Gigabyte has been able to do this by the simple expedient of making the topmost PCIe slot an X16 slot, using an x1 for the next and then rinsing and repeating this process for all 7 slots. Of course as this is an ATX motherboard, consumers will not be able to use all 7 slots unless all cards are single height designs — as dual height coolers will block the next PCIe slot below it.
